The Mayor of Walvis Bay, Alderman Immanuel Wilfried recently visited residents who occupy abandoned houses due to homelessness to assess their situation and donate food as some of them have lost their income due to COVID-19 restrictions during the lockdown period. Water to these houses has also been restored for the period of lockdown.
The Mayor was accompanied by the Chairperson of the Management Committee and Cllr Liilo Niilenge and the Deputy Mayor, Cllr Penelope Martin-Louw. “It is important for us to asses the conditions of our most vulnerable residents to see how we can assist them and not just in times of crisis but to search for a more lasting remedy to improve their living conditions. We urge all who wish to offer a helping to please do so,” he said.
