SUPERINTENDENT: ROADS ENGINEERING
(PATTERSON GRADE LEVEL C3)
PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
  • To assume responsibility for the effective operation of the Section in order to ensure the provision of a high quality and cost effective service (roads construction and maintenance, building maintenance, operational vehicle fleet, sand ingress) to residents in the Walvis Bay district.

Key performance areas:
  • Assumes responsibility for the management of the Section
  • Oversees and monitors all road / pavement, building maintenance, private siding and sand removal projects, in terms of the availability of funds
  • Controls Municipal Vehicle Fleet
  • Assists in the investigation and implementation of Traffic Engineering matters
  • Provides assistance for roads infrastructure development plans
  • Supervises contracts, tenders and projects undertaken by Contractors

Qualifications:
  • T3 / National Diploma (Civil Engineering) or equivalent and minimum of 5 years applicable experience. B Tech degree will be advantageous
  • Computer literate
  • Code BE Driver's License
  • Health and Safety Training

OFFICER: SPORTS, ARTS & CULTURE
(PATTERSON GRADE LEVEL C2)
PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
  • To ensure the smooth and efficient operation of Council's sports facilities which includes the Indoor Sports complex, Narraville sports fields, Kuisebmond Stadium, Netball courts, Basketball courts, Jan Wilken sport facilities, Sparta field, Cricket Oval, Tennis courts and swimming pool complex.

Key performance areas:
  • Supervises, coordinates and maintains all Council sport facilities.
  • Supervises subordinates and executes general human resources management.
  • Promotes the utilization of sports facilities to its fullest potential and coordinates new and additional facilities where necessary.
  • Performs administrative duties regarding the day to day running of the Section.
  • Executes Youth, Arts and Cultural activities in order to stimulate such development in Walvis Bay.

Qualifications:
  • Grade 12 (with 25 points) and 3 years experience in a sport environment.
  • An appropriate post school qualification will be advantageous.
  • Code BE Drivers license
  • First Aid Certificate

FOREMAN: RETICULATION (LIQUID WASTE)
(PATTERSON GRADE LEVEL C2)
PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
  • To ensure an effective sewerage reticulation network including the maintenance of all pumps, tools and equipment in the various pump stations on the network.

Key performance areas:
  • Responsible for the supervision of the general operation and maintenance of the sewerage reticulation network.
  • Responsible for the functionality of all sewer pump stations, all maintenance done at the various pump stations and on the reticulation network.
  • Responsible for the overall performance of the high-pressure jet-cleaning operators and the team opening normal blockages in the performance of their duties.
  • Responsible for the daily supervision and safety of subordinates in the work place.
  • Responsible for the general planning of activities regarding the reticulation system.

Qualifications:
  • Grade 10 (with 25 points) plus Fitting and Turning diploma
  • 5 Years relevant experience
  • Code BE Drivers license
  • Computer literacy and safety training (NOSA) will be advantageous
