World Water Day 2025 theme is \u201cGlacier Preservation\u201d. Glaciers act as natural freshwater reservoirs, releasing water gradually to support rivers, lakes, and ecosystems especially during dry seasons or desert regions, preserving them is essential.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>In celebration of World Water Day, the <a><\/a>Municipality of Walvis Bay hosted a group of 20 learners from Dunesig High School to educate them on water conservation, local water sources and water management processes of the town. Informative sessions were held outlining sources of Walvis Bay\u2019s water and the community\u2019s consumption patterns, intricacies of liquid waste management in Walvis Bay and water quality and its importance to public health. The discussions highlighted the efforts made by the Municipality to maintain a reliable and clean water supply.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>The learners also conducted an insightful field trip aimed at deepening their understanding of the vital water systems that support the town. The field trip covered the Municipal reservoirs at Mile 7 and the Wastewater Treatment Plant. The students were then tested on their newly acquired knowledge in a fun quiz, with municipal-branded prizes awarded to the winners.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>This field trip not only provided the learners with valuable knowledge about water management in Walvis Bay but also fostered a deeper appreciation for the critical work involved in ensuring a continuous and sustainable water supply for the community.
