We are especially honoured that Walvis Bay is the only municipality in Namibia selected to participate in this global initiative.<\/p>\n<p>I am excited to present this opportunity to the youth of Walvis Bay and to invite them to become part of a global movement of young people driving climate action in their communities. Through the Bloomberg Philanthropies Youth Climate Action Fund, facilitated by the Office of the Mayor, young residents between the ages of 15 and 24 will have the opportunity to transform innovative ideas into practical projects that contribute to a greener, more resilient Walvis Bay. I encourage our youth to embrace this opportunity, share their ideas and help shape the future of our town. By investing in our young people today, we are investing in sustainable development, stronger communities and the future prosperity of Walvis Bay.<\/p>\n<p>This will allow the youth in Walvis Bay to become active participants and catalysts for change on climate action issues. As part of this program, Walvis Bay will receive US$50,000 (Approximately N$ 830 000 at current exchange rate) to distribute microgrants to fund youth-led climate initiatives.<br>\nAn open call for applications will be on the Municipality\u2019s social media platforms and website from 2 July 2026.
