Every 21st of March, as I ponder the wisdom and sacrifices of our liberators, those whose blood watered our Freedom, I find myself in a humbled state.
\nOn Independence Day, a day of recollection and hope, we honor our liberators for their bravery and commitment to freedom. On this day I pray we can all have gratitude for the rights and freedoms we enjoy in an independent Namibia, recognising that there are still many in the world who do not have the liberties and privileges we hold dear.
\nWe cannot assume that the struggle has ended. It is never-ending. As the late John F Kennedy highlighted in his 1946 speech: \u201cEternal vigilance is the price of liberty. It was the price yesterday. It is the price today, and it will ever be the price.\u201d
\nAlthough the struggle for independence ended years ago, a new page was turned to rewrite Namibia\u2019s future for the generations to come. This new chapter challenges us daily to work harder, do better and work together for a flourishing nation that many others wish to be part of. Unity remains our greatest tool in this regard, so let us continue to join hands and heads for an even better Namibia for all.
