STEALING OF ERF BEACONS (IRON PEGS)

It has come to the attention of the Municipality that some people are unlawfully
removing (stealing) erf beacons (iron pegs) from recently surveyed areas in Walvis Bay.
It should be noted that any person who deliberately removes or damages any beacon
without working under the supervision of a registered professional land surveyor, is
committing an offence and will be guilty of an offence and liable on conviction to a fine
not exceeding N$2 000.00 and/or to imprisonment for a period not exceeding six (6)
months, in accordance with the Land Survey Act, 1993 (Act No. 33 of 1993) as amended.
The community of Walvis Bay is hereby encouraged to report any suspicious activities
associated with the removal of beacons to any of the Municipal Offices or nearest
Police Station.
