What exactly Happened?
At approximately 2am on 6 April 2020 our technicians were alerted to a pipe break in Uis Street in Kuisebmond. Technicians from the water section attended to the break and fixed it. Two water tank trucks were utilised to remove access water, some of which unfortunately invaded three formal dwellings and some informal dwellings in the area.
Response time:
A call was made at 2:26 after which the team made preparations immediately to attend to the emergency. These preparations include collecting support staff from their homes and driving to the site. The team reached the site at 3:00.
In conclusion:
The Municipality relies on the community to alert us on pipe breaks, in order to avoid further damage.

Third party claims can be submitted to the relevant department for assessment by the insurer, and further action.
Council sympathises with the residents who were affected by this unfortunate incident. The Office of the Mayor and Office of the Governor are working together to assist these residents.
