Ground-breaking for 68 plots in Narraville

Posted: 12 Aug 2020

The Shack Dwellers Federation of Namibia Narraville Network celebrated a dream come true at a ground-breaking ceremony last Saturday, initiating the process of building homes on their own land. During the past decade, Narraville based members of the federation saved their money to the point where they could witness a better future for their families. The Municipality of Walvis Bay allocated 268 plots in 2012 and assisted the federation in completing the plans for the 68 plots at Narraville. Deputy Minister of Labour, Industrial Relations and Employment Creation and Chairman of the high-level government delegation to the Erongo Region, Honourable Hafeni Ndemula thanked the members of the Shack Dwellers Federation for their remarkable patience over the years. “Low cost housing is absolutely vital. It provides a home for people who cannot otherwise access one, something which in the midst of our housing crisis is as important as ever. It builds communities and gives people support which helps them to live healthy, happy lives.”
