It has come to the attention of the Municipality that some people have been misled to believe that making random payments into a municipal bank account will secure them erven at some point in future. The payments, allegedly, are serving as down payments on these unidentified erven.
It should be noted, however, that any public sale of erven will be formally announced via the Municipality’s approved channels of communication. In the absence of this, any other announcement purportedly on behalf of the Municipality should be treated with suspicion.
Residents are therefore advised not to be deceived in this manner, and to refrain from making unknown payments into any of the Municipality’s bank accounts without any reference number/s.
Members of the public are reminded to provide the correct reference numbers, preferably the 8-digit account numbers, when legitimate payments are made.
