Walvis Mayor, Cllr Trevino Forbes and Henties Bay Mayor, Cllr Lewies Johannes Vermaak received their first dose of a two-part dose Covid-19 vaccine at the Welwitschia Hospital on Wednesday afternoon.
They were accompanied by fellow Erongo Region mayors, Cllr Davey Van Wyk of Karibib and Cllr Roger Nautoro of Omaruru who have already received their first dose and are awaiting their second dose and his Worship Erastus Kandenge of Arandis.
Cllr Trevino Forbes openly admitted that he was not a fan of needles to the amusement of the nurses on duty but realises the importance of getting the vaccine. He further stated that, “Getting vaccinated is the best thing to do to protect myself and my family and by extension my community against the deadly virus. ” Forbes encouraged residents to get vaccinated since medical professionals have advised that it offers protection against severe illness and even death in the event of infection with COVID-19.
Cllr Lewies Vermaak echoed Forbes’s sentiments, and thanked the staff for their exceptional services.
