Mayors of the Erongo Region met recently at the Municipality of Walvis Bay to revive the Erongo Region Mayors’ Forum, which hasn’t been active for some time. The aim of the meeting was to share mutually beneficial strategies, work on building strong relations and elect a chairperson for the forum. The Mayor of Walvis Bay, His Worship Cllr Trevino Forbes was elected as Chairperson of the forum. He will serve in this capacity for 2021. Mayor Forbes said he welcomes his appointment and looks forward to working closely with the other mayors with the view to improving the lives of residents of Erongo.

Some of the Forum objectives include:

– To support, promote and maintain development, tourism and Investment.

– To promote solving common challenges faced by Local Authorities within the region.

– To create a platform for discussions and the sharing of ideas.

– To advance the interest of the Local Authorities and its institutions within the Erongo Region.

The mayors that attended included Trevino Forbes of Walvis Bay, Louisa Kativa of Swakopmund, Lewies Johannes Vermaak of Henties Bay, Erastus Kandenge of Arandis, Wilfried Weise of Usakos, Davey van Wyk of Karibib and Roger Nautoro of Omaruru.
