Posted: 29 Jun 2021

The Office of the Mayor in cooperation with the Namibian Community Trust donated 33 food parcels and 33 blankets to the elderly community last week at Utuseb. The food parcels and blankets are valued at N$ 35 000.

Charlene Minaar of the Namibian Community Trust said that the trust runs different initiatives yearly. “The donation is part of our winter initiative, to assist the community” said Charlene. The food parcels consisted of maize meal, canned fish and other food items. Mayor Forbes, assisted in handing out the food parcels and blankets to the elderly was accompanied by recently crowned Miss Namibia, Chelsi Shikongo, Cllr Olivia Andrews and Junior Mayor, Kristine Shetunyenga. While Mayor Forbes and his delegation were at Utuseb, he also took the time to visit JP Brand Primary School. The acting principal of the school, Jotsti Anna and acting HOD, TJ Knittle gave a brief tour around the school and expressed the need for more renovations to be done at the school in order to make the environment more conducive for the learners. The Mayor indicated that his office might be able to assist with a face-lift by repainting the school. He said the painting of the school will proceed once the amount needed and donors of the paint have been secured.
