ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH PRACTITIONER – (PATERSON GRADE LEVEL C3)

DEPARTMENT OF WATER, WASTE & ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT

Purpose of the Job

To implement and enforce the relevant Acts and Procedures within the scope of practice and professional ethics of the profession to prevent and control possible and real environmental hazards, which threaten the health of the population, or any condition, which may have a detrimental effect to the health of the residents.

Minimum Requirements

• 3-year Diploma in Environmental Health/ Public Health or Environmental Science/ Management or Environmental Health Science (NQF Level 6).
• 5 years’ relevant experience in a similar capacity covering the entire spectrum of environmental health services, of which at least 3 years should have been in a local authority.
• Valid Code B driving licence.
• Registered as Environmental Health Practitioner with the Allied Health Professions Council of Namibia.
• Registration as Peace Officer (must be registered after appointment).

• Food Inspections
• Communicable and preventative disease control
• Industrial hygiene/ healthy working conditions/ prevention and elimination of occupational diseases
• Identification, prevention and control of water, air, and land pollution
• Health education programs
• Building plan approval
• Staff supervision and related administration

Remuneration:

Basic Salary:                                    N$ 489 616.00 pa

Housing Allowance:                      N$ 205 638.72 pa

OR

Rental Allowance:                         N$  107 715.52 pa

Transport Allowance:                  N$    17 400.00 pa

Pension Fund membership as well as Medical Aid membership (both employee and employer contributions) are applicable.
