The Municipal Council has noted with concern that illegal water connections and meter tampering are increasing at an alarming rate and are reported, almost daily.
Such activities violate Section 37 of the Local Authorities Act and are therefore, a criminal offense. Perpetrators of such activities will be reported to the police and as a consequence, clients will be responsible for backdated charges based on average usage.
Ratepayers are therefore urged to refrain from these activities and report any illegal activity in this regard by calling the following numbers without delay:
