In an effort to keep our town clean following a noticeable increase in illegal dumping and littering, the Municipality has relaunched the Team-Up 2 Clean-Up campaign, an initiative aimed at restoring cleanliness in public spaces and encouraging community pride.
We acknowledge that recent delays in refuse removal due to a shortage of operational trucks may have contributed to increased littering across the town. While we continue to provide daily updates on the refuse removal schedule and work diligently to resolve the situation, we kindly urge residents to refrain from dumping waste in open spaces, but instead to contact our team at 081 164 3481 for support.
As part of our internal response, the Municipality recently conducted targeted clean-ups using heavy-duty equipment in key hotspots yesterday, including:
Narraville – Behind the Sports Stadium and near the railway
Kuisebmond – Ongulumbashe Street, Johanna Benson Street, around the new Tutaleni Police Station, Sandsfontein Street, Sitrien Street (Erf 2000), and Ramos Flats
Areas with Skips – Multi-Purpose Centre, Municipal Flats, and Blue Church in Tutaleni
Furthermore, we extend our sincere gratitude to the residents who have stepped forward to request gloves and refuse bags to help tidy up their neighborhoods, through community cleanup sessions. Your efforts are instrumental in building a cleaner, safer Walvis Bay.
With internal operations already underway, we are excited to soon host more community-wide clean-up sessions as part of the next phase of this campaign.
We will continue with these clean-up efforts every Friday until further notice.
Let’s work together for a cleaner Walvis Bay because keeping our city beautiful is everyone’s responsibility!
