TINY DRIVERS, BIG LESSONS

Posted: 31 Mar 2025

The Grade 1 learners of Laerskool Walvisbaail Walvisbaai recently visited the Municipality of Walvis Bay’s Traffic School for an insightful and engaging educational experience on road safety. During the visit, Traffic Officer Simon Christiaan provided a concise and informative lesson on the essential dos and don’ts of road safety, which was followed by an interactive quiz to test the children’s understanding. To further reinforce their newfound knowledge, the students were given toy wire cars to manoeuvre along miniature roads, allowing them to apply the lessons they had just learned in a practical setting.

This Traffic School initiative is a result of a collaborative partnership between the Municipality of Walvis Bay, Rössing Uranium LTD, and the Namibian Institute of Mining and Technology (NIMT).

As Walvis Bay continues to flourish as a hub of opportunity within Namibia, this traffic school plays a pivotal role in equipping young learners with vital road safety knowledge that will not only benefit them in their daily lives but could one day prove crucial to their safety and well-being.
