The Municipality of Walvis Bay is proud to send off its dynamic team to represent the town at the upcoming Namibia Local Authorities Sports and Recreation Association (NALASRA) Games, scheduled to take place from 26 to 30 May 2025 in Katima Mulilo.
During a spirited send-off occasion, the Mayor, Trevino Forbes and the CEO, Victoria Kependa, offered a few words of encouragement to the team. Forbes commended the team for their dedication and commitment, stating, “We are proud of you.” He further emphasized the importance of sports in fostering team unity, physical health, and mental well-being among municipal staff. The Mayor also reiterated that the Chief Executive Officer is a champion of sports participation within the organisation and praised the team for their consistent excellence at previous games.
The Walvis Bay team will compete in a variety of sports disciplines including volleyball, netball, darts, ring-board, pool, running, tug of war, and soccer in both the under-40 and over-40 categories. With their sights set on success, the athletes are eager to uphold the town’s strong sporting reputation.
The NALASRA Games, an annual event hosted in different towns across Namibia, serve as a platform for local authorities to engage in friendly competition while promoting friendship, cooperation, and employee wellness.The team will leave tomorrow, 24 May 2025 and is expected to arrive in Katima Mulilo on Sunday, 25 May 2025.
