The Municipality of Walvis Bay has taken steps to enhance road safety and improve infrastructure across the town by initiating a wide-scale pothole repair programme.
To fast-track this effort, four contractors were recently appointed to carry out pothole repairs in various suburbs, with work already underway. This response follows significant road deterioration caused by prolonged wear and the effects of rainfall.
The appointed contractors and their areas of responsibility are as follows:
Walvis Bay Quality Services: Central Business District (CBD), Meersig, Fairways, Lagoon, and Hermes
Ghaba Investment: Langstrand, Dolphin Beach, and Narraville – with repairs already ongoing in Langstrand
Olukonda Investment & Vitz Investment: Kuisebmond suburb
In addition to the current works, two more contractors will soon be appointed to implement major road rehabilitation projects targeting areas that require more extensive interventions beyond pothole patching.
All appointed contractors are currently active in their assigned zones, and the Municipality urges residents to be patient and cautious while work is in progress. Temporary road closures or detours may be put in place to ensure the safety of both road users and construction teams.
This coordinated initiative reflects the Municipality’s commitment to restoring and maintaining road infrastructure for the benefit of residents, businesses, and visitors alike.
