The Deputy Mayor of Walvis Bay Cllr, Mina Hangula has expressed sincere appreciation to Namport, through the Namport Social Investment Fund (NSIF), for donating a skip truck and ten skips valued at N$2,735,668.00 to strengthen the Municipality’s solid waste management operations.
The Deputy Mayor highlighted that the handover represents more than the provision of equipment, it reflects the power of partnership, corporate social responsibility and a shared commitment to building a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable Walvis Bay.
The donation, comprising a Hino 500 truck fitted with a 12-tonne skip loader and ten locally manufactured heavy-duty skips, will enhance waste collection, improve sanitation, reduce illegal dumping and help protect the town’s coastal environment.
The Municipality further acknowledged the Fund’s contribution to local economic development through the procurement of skips from WM Engineering, a Walvis Bay-based Namibian SME, alongside the supply of the truck by Pupkewitz Motor Division.
The Deputy Mayor reaffirmed the Municipality’s commitment to ensuring that the equipment is properly maintained and used for its intended purpose, while calling on residents and businesses to take collective responsibility for keeping the town clean.
The Namport Social Investment Fund’s contribution demonstrates how collaboration between public institutions and the private sector can translate shared commitments into tangible benefits for communities.
Together, let us protect our environment, strengthen service delivery and build a cleaner, healthier and more beautiful Walvis Bay for present and future generations.
